For foodies and football fans

The name of the 1000 square-meter restaurant – double that size when you count the outdoor area – is Bellavista del Jardín del Norte. But for soccer fans, which means all of Barcelona, it’s “Messi’s resturant.” Yes, it’s true that Lionel Messi, FC Barcelona’s Argentine superstar, is a partner in the business. And sometimes he can be spotted eating there.

But Bellavista (Bellavista.barcelona), which opened less than a year ago, is a place that attracts foodies as well as futbolistas. Messi and his brother Rodrigo joined forces with the brothers Iglesias, the successful restaurateurs who work with yet another pair of siblings, Albert and Ferran Adrià, the famous chef. And, like the Adriás acclaimed Tickets, Bellavista is for people who like eating to be an experience.

An eclectic menu includes Argentine specialties like breaded steak milanesas and empanadas, plus bellota ham and other Spanish delights. And Bellavista, designed to evoke a picturesque village within the center of the city, also offers entertainment with twelve thematic areas to explore. They include the garden and the “corner bar,” where you can watch a Barça game on the wide screen. Wearing a Messi jersey is optional.
